Parliament logjam ends after Government agrees to Opposition resolution

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): After a week of Parliament logjam, Rajya Sabha ended the impasse over Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's controversial remarks on Monday after Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari intervened. Rajya Sabha resumed normal functioning during Question Hour after the Government and the opposition leaders agreed to a compromise formula to end the protests. Following the compromise, Ansari made a fresh appeal to "all members of Parliament, ministers and leaders of all political parties to maintain civility at all costs in public discourse". Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu confirming the development said that the impasse over the minister's remark has ended after RS chairperson's intervention and appealed the opposition leaders to co-operate with the government. Delhi Rape Case: Protests continue in national capital even as govt bans Uber cab services

New Delhi, Dec 08 (ANI): Series of protests continue to take place across the national capital over Delhi rape case even as Uber cab services have been banned in Delhi by the government. Members of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) staged protest outside police headquarters demanding action against the accused. Brinda Karat after meeting Police Commissioner BS Basssi said that she was assured by Bassi in the case. Aam Aadmi Party members also staged protest outside the residence of Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and demanded action over the matter and steps for safety of women on Delhi streets. Earlier, Uber cab services issued a statement, wherein it said that "what happened over the weekend in New Delhi is horrific. Our entire team hearts go out to the victim of this despicable crime. Will do everything, to help bring this perpetrator to justice and to support the victim and her family in her recovery. UP govt suspends Noida Authority's Yadav Singh for amassing illegal properties worth crores

Lucknow, Dec 08 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh government has suspended Noida Authority Chief engineer Yadav Singh who was accused of amassing illegal properties worth crores. Few days back, the I-T department had recovered diamonds worth Rs 100 crore, Rs 10 crore in cash and around 2 kgs of gold from Yadav's residence. All tenders issued by Yadav have also been cancelled. The Supreme Court had appointed a special investigation team in monitoring investigations against Yadav. Reacting on the same, BJP leader Vijay Bahadur Pathak said that proper investigation should be done of the companies. He also questioned on why the state government trusted person like Yadav Singh who was already under suspension. Pathak also alleged that the scam took place under the political leaders. Dec 8, 2014

New Delhi/ Mumbai, Dec 08 (ANI): Political parties on Monday reacted as Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj urged that the Bhagwad Gita should be declared a 'national scripture', adding that only a formal announcement to this effect was pending. Although Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that there is nothing wrong on the same and truth should be accepted by all, other political parties stood opposing the proposal. Political leaders are of the view that Indian Constitution is the supreme scripture and that religious books should not be brought up to represent the nation. Politicos also feared a demand of making other religious books as national scripture to crop up soon. Swaraj made the remarks while speaking at 'Gita Prerna Mahotsav', organised to celebrate 5,151 years of religious book Gita at the Red Fort Maidan where VHP President Ashok Singhal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should immediately declare the sacred text of Hindus as a national scripture.
