South Korean consumer electronics major, LG has released a new Dual-SIM model of the flagship G3.
The new variant LG G3 Dual-LTE packs pretty much the same specifications seen inside the original G3 launched in late May. The only difference is the addition of extra SIM slot.
LG G3 Dual-LTE sports a 5.5-inch QHD (2560x1440p) IPS screen and ships with Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 series quad-core CPU, Adreno 330, 16GB (2GB RAM)/32GB (3GB RAM) eMMC inbuilt storage (expandable up to 128GB) and a 3,000 mAh battery.
Like the original, the new model also houses the unique 13.0-megapixel camera with a laser based auto-focus, which no other top-end phone in the industry boasts of.
For the uninitiated, this feature measures the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam enabling quick capture of good quality photos even under low-light conditions. It also boasts of OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus). In the front, it comes loaded with a 2.1-megapixel snapper.
According to NDTV Gadgets, the new LG G3 Dual-LTE (D856) has been made available in Hong Kong through ePrice online store for HKD 4998 (around $645/€516/₹32,560) and will release in Russia this month for around $649 (approximately €520/₹39,930).
With the launch of G3 Dual-LTE, the company is following the footsteps of its South Korean counter-part, Samsung which is known for its versatility of releasing multiple variants of flagship model to markets based on price and network support.
In the past three months, LG has released four G3 variants -- G3 Stylus, G3 Beat, G3 Screen and G3 Dual (this model codenamed D858 is retailing only in China). [Note: Chinese 4G network is different from other developed markets and India as well]
The new business model seems to have worked wonders for the company as it reported a record-breaking 16.8 million smartphones sales in the third quarter, an increase of 39 percent year-on-year and 16 percent more units than the previous quarter.
Sales of KRW 4.25 trillion (USD 4.14 billion) and operating income of KRW 167.4 billion (USD 163.16 million) were the highest in the company's history since the third quarter of 2009, said the company in its recent released quarterly earnings report.
