Alcatel One Touch Idol X+ Octa-core Smartphone Goes on Sale in India: Price, Specification Details

TCL Communications' owned Alcatel One Touch has released the flagship Octa-core smartphone Idol X+ in India via online store.

The company has tied-up with popular e-commerce site, Flipkart to exclusively sell the marquee phone in the subcontinent for ₹16,999. Prospective buyers are said to get free activity tracker 'Boom' band and JBL earphones and as a launch day offer,  the firm is also giving away ₹1000 worth credits for e-books and 50-percent discount on original company branded flip-covers (for limited period only).

The new phone sports 5.0-inch full HD display protected by the Gorilla Glass 2 shield and ships with 2.0GHz MediaTek processor paired with Mali 400 graphics engine. It is aptly backed by sumptuous 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32GB). The only downside is that the phone runs on the out-dated Android v4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

Other stipulated features include 13.0-megapixel camera with LED flash, a 2.0-megapixel snapper on the front side (with full HD video recording ability), 2500 mAh battery, which can power phone up to 20 hours of talk-time and close to 320 hours under standby mode.

Idol X+ originally made its global debut at the international technology trade fair, CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2014, Las Vegas early this year. Many believe Alcatel One Touch phone is a bit late (almost four months) to arrive in India as domestic players have already crammed the market with multiple low-cost Octa-core devices, but the competitive sub-₹17,000 price-tag has provided a chance to give stiff challenge to local brands such as Micromax Canvas Knight A350, Intex Aqua Octa, Wickedleak Wammy Passion X, Karbonn Titanium Octane, Octane Plus and the recently launched Chinese phone Gionee Elife S5.5.
