Bollywood film "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" has become the highest grosser this Diwali. After crossing the Rs 100-crore mark, the movie is now expected to cross the Rs 200-crore milestone worldwide.
Yash Chopra's last directorial film collected approximately Rs 19.42 crore at the domestic box office in its second week, taking the overall India collection to Rs 117.83 crore.
At that figure, the romantic flick has left behind another Shahrukh Khan starrer, "Ra.One", with Rs 115 crore. The action thriller was released in Diwali last year.
"Maintained well at multiplexes, but the decline in business beyond metros was noticeable," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh said.
"#JTHJ [2nd Week] Thu 1.54 cr. Week 2 total: 19.42 cr. Grand Total: Rs 117.83 cr nett," Adarsh tweeted.
Till Monday, the movie collected Rs 61.34 cr ($ 11.03 million) at the overseas market, so taking the worldwide total to Rs 179.19 crore nett.
" #JTHJ Overseas total *after 2nd Weekend* $ 11.03 million [Rs 61.34 cr]," Adarsh tweeted.
"#JTHJ continues to march towards greater glories in the intl arena, while #SOS has declined substantially in Weekend 2 in major markets."
Released along with Ajay Devgn's "Son of Sardaar", Shahrukh's movie dominated the ticket collection window in both the domestic and overseas markets.
It is slowly moving towards the Rs 200 crore club, needing another Rs 20.81 crore to touch that mark. However, the release of Aamir Khan's "Talaash" might affect the business of "JTHJ". "Talaash" has already received tremendous response for advance booking and has also received positive reviews from critics.
Also, the business of the movie is declining with each passing day. Looking at the present pace of collection it is likely that the movie will achieve the Rs 200-crore target by the end of the third or fourth week.
