Shahrukh Khan starrer romantic movie "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" which was touted as the biggest blockbuster film has failed to cross the Rs. 200 crore milestone worldwide.
After crossing the Rs 100 crore mark at box offices worldwide within 7 days of its release, the movie was expected to surpass the Rs 200 crore figure but failed to achieve it.
Directed by the late legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" was released during the six-day Diwali weekend across 2,500 screens in India and 600 screens internationally.
In its first week, "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" collected Rs. 150.41 crore from both domestic as well as overseas box offices and looking at the first week figure trade, analysts expected the film to cross Rs. 200 crore by the third week.
But with each passing day, the business of "JTHJ" declined at the box offices. In its second week, the film collected Rs. 179.19 crore net, worldwide. The collection further declined in the third week due to the release of Aamir Khan starrer suspense thriller "Talaash."
It raked in Rs 190.71 crore net in its third week both in India as well as in the international market. "JTHJ," also starring Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles, now requires Rs. 9.29 crore to surpass the Rs. 200 crore mark and join the list with Salman Khan's "Ek Tha Tiger" and Aamir Khan's "3 Idiots."
But it's very difficult for the movie to earn Rs. 9.29 crore in its fourth week because of less number of screens and new releases. Akshay Kumar's action masala film "Khiladi 786" released this week.
With "Talaash" and "Khiladi 786," the screen counts of "JTHJ" across India and also in the overseas market has declined affecting the business.
"Jab Tak Hai Jaan," produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films banner, marked the comeback of legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra to direction after a gap of eight years.
