Xiaomi is building some hype ahead of its next big reveal. In new teaser images, the company is hinting at the launch of its new flagship smartphone, the Mi5.
According to the MIUI thread, Xiaomi will release the Mi5 handset at a special launch event in Beijing on 15 January. Further details about the launch event reveal the venue as Beijing's National Convention Center and the product will be revealed at 2 pm local time.
Xiaomi Mi5 has already been a hot topic for millions of its fans. Clearly, the smartphone's availability will be exclusive to China before the company finally decides to bring it to other markets. But there's really no exact timeframe when the new flagship will come to India considering Xiaomi is yet to launch Mi4 in the country.
There have been several leaks and rumors in the recent month outlining the Mi5 design and specifications. Leaked snapshot of the upcoming handset showed Mi5 with ultra-slim bezels and the company's teaser indicates an ultra-thin design for the flagship. In one of the teaser image, Xiaomi showed a picture of a hand holding an invisible product. Clearly the gap between the fingers shows it is extremely thin. To spice up the things a bit more, Xiaomi asks a cryptic question in Chinese, which translates to "What does it look like? What is as thin as a cicada's wings?" CNET reported.
As you might guess, Xiaomi is pushing the limit in trimming down the design of its next flagship. Given the company's previous devices, there is a good chance that the next one is going to be pretty amazing.
Based on the leaked rumors about the MI5's specifications, there's going to be a 5.5- inch or 5.7-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels rivaling Samsung Galaxy Note 4, LG G3 and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6. The company is going to pack a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM, 4G LTE support, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor with a competitive price tag.
