Xiaomi has clearly marked its territory in the highly-compact smartphone industry and continues to astound fans in new ways.
The Chinese upstart has already threatened the dominance of Apple and Samsung in the market and is looking to give a head-to-head competition to these giants. If the recent leaks are to be believed Xiaomi is going to have an incredible head-start next year in the flagship race.
Xiaomi is set to unveil its latest flagship smartphone at the CES 2015 and new leaks have already shown how the Xiaomi Mi5 may actually look like. The previously leaked snapshot of Mi5 showed the smartphone's impressive ultra-slim bezel design in white and now there's a new leaked image showing the same handset in black. The new image was spotted on Weibo and picked up by Gizmo China and GSM Arena alike.
Based on the leaked shot, GSM Arena concluded the screen size to be around 5.5 to 5.7-inch, much in line with the previously leaked Mi5 in white. There is an impressively thin bezel and a wide-angle display, giving it stunning looks overall. As for the specs, Xiaomi is picking some top-of-the-line ingredients. Rumors indicate a QHD display, a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB RAM and 4G LTE connectivity, giving it a much-needed push to go against bigger giants in the smartphone arena.
According to an earlier report, the Xiaomi Mi5 will feature a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor. But these high-end specs do not mean the Mi5 will likely dig a deep hole in consumers' pockets. Xiaomi will continue the aggressive pricing strategy for its next flagship like it has done with earlier models in the past.
Xiaomi has also been rumored to be working on a limited edition model for the Mi5 smartphone that will feature a sapphire display. But the company will not release the sapphire model until later next year.
