Actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who made a successful Bollywood debut with Abhishek Kapoor's film "Kai Po Che", is out of the director's next venture "Fitoor".
After working together in "Kai Po Che", Abhishek Kapoor signed Sushant opposite Katrina Kaif in his next venture. But the actor opted out of the film due to date issues.
According to a statement from Sushant's spokesperson, the dates of "Fitooor" have been postponed, leading to a clash with Shekhar Kapur's "Paani".
"The film, for which he had allotted dates this year and kept himself free, has shifted from its original October 2013 schedule to March 2014 and now to July 2014. It now clashes with his dates allotted for 'Paani' next year due to which he had to let it go. He hopes to collaborate with Abhishek Kapoor on some project in the future," the statement read.
The film is based on Charles Dickens' classic novel "Great Expectations" and according to Abhishek, Sushant and Katrina were the perfect cast for the film.
"They (Sushant & Katrina) best suit the characters involved in the movie. I don't know how they will evolve since it's too early to know but I am hoping it turns out to be good," Abhishek told Press Trust of India in September. [Read the report here]
But now Abhishek is in search of new actor who could possibly fit in the character for his film as Sushant chose Shekhar Kapur over him.
Sushant is riding high with back-to-back hit films -Kai Po Che and Shuddh Desi Romance. The actor, who shot to fame with television serial Pavitra Rishta, will be seen working with Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in Peekay (P.K.).
