Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has bagged a role in Abhishek Kapoor's "Fitoor" opposite Katrina Kaif.
The Abhishek Kapoor directorial, based on Charles Dicken's "Great Expectations", will have Sushant courting Katrina.
"I am currently working on the script of 'Fitoor'. I am really excited about it and will start shooting early next year. I am blessed that Katrina and Sushant are equally excited about the film," the "Rock On!" director told Press Trust of India (PTI).
Further justifying his cast Kapoor said, "They (Sushant & Katrina) best suit the characters involved in the movie. I don't know how they will evolve since it's too early to know but I am hoping it turns out to be good."
Dicken's classic novel "Great Expectations" is a bildungsroman, wherein the main protagonist 'Pip' is seen falling for the heartless, wealthy maid Estella.
This will be Kapoor's second project with Sushant after launching the 27-year-old in the critically acclaimed "Kai Po Che" this year.
As for Sushant, the actor has also bagged a role in Ashutosh Gowariker's period film and is being considered for Shekhar Kapur's international project "Paani" with Kristen Stewart.
The talented actor has overridden superstar Hrithik Roshan, who was the initial choice for both films.
The more interesting aspect of the film is the Katrina-Sushant pairing, which may become a hit onscreen 'jodi' in the making.
Meanwhile, director Abhishek has pinned his hopes winning an Oscar for "Kai Po Che". The film was nominated as a contender for India's official entry for the Oscars.
"I really don't know what are the parameters for a movies selection to Oscars... I have full faith in the people taking the decision and may the best man win. There is a lot of effort gone into the film and as a filmmaker I am satisfied," said the director.
