Mobile arm of the consumer electronics giant, Sony has announced the new smartphone, Xperia Z2a in Taiwan.
The new Xperia Z2a is touted to be the international variant of the Xperia ZL2 launched exclusively in Japan. Only difference between the two devices is that former is available in 16GB storage, while the latter houses 32GB memory.
Xperia Z2a sports a 5.0-inch full HD (1920x1080p) display boasting Sony's proprietary Mobile Bravia Engine 2, X-Reality and Triluminos display technology. It runs on the Snapdragon 801 series quad-core processor backed by Adreno 330 graphics engine, 3GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage.
Other stipulated features include a 20.7-megapixel camera with G-Lens, Exmor RS sensors, 4K video recording, 3.1-megapixel snapper on the front and a 3,000 mAh battery.
On the connectivity front, it supports 4G-LTE network, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and like all high-end Sony phones, Xperia Z2a comes with IP55/IP58 water-and-dust resistant certification.
Besides Xperia Z2a, Sony also showcased the recently unveiled mid-range phablet Xperia T3. It houses 5.3-inch HD (1280 x 720p) TRILIMINOS screen with BRAVIA Engine 2 and ships with Android v4.4 KitKat OS, 1.4GHz Snapdragon quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM , 8GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB), 2,500 mAh battery which can power the smartphone up to 12 hours, 46 minutes of talk time and close to 688 hours under standby mode.
The new phablet also houses a 8.0-megapixel primary camera with Exmor RS sensors and a 1.1-megapixel camera for video chat.
As of now, company is reported (courtesy, Engadget China) to initially release the new Xperia Z2a along with Xperia T3 in Taiwan next month (July), but the details of the devices' price and specific release dates for global market is still under wraps.
