Rajnath faces heat for apology remark

New Delhi/ Bangalore, Feb 26 (ANI): Making an all-out attempt to woo Muslim voters, BJP president Rajnath Singh has said that his party will ask for forgiveness if it had ever committed any mistake in the past. The BJP chief was apparently referring to the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat, over which the party and the state's Chief Minister and now its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has faced enough criticism. However the remark made by Singh drew criticism from political parties.

INS Sindhuratna mishap: 2 Navy officers missing, several others injured

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Reacting on INS Sindhuratna mishap wherein seven sailors are believed to have suffered serious injuries and two officers remain missing, Maritime Expert Commodore (Rtd) Uday Bhaskar said that such an incident has already taken place last year and this has put Indian Navy's dismal safety record under further scrutiny and underlining its inability to maintain its dwindling kilo-class fleet. He further said that further speculation in the matter is not called for until the report comes on the same.

Govt committed to provide best facilities to forces: Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on Wednesday called for focused attention on strengthening infrastructure and building capacity for the paramilitary forces, as he lauded the personnel for maintaining law and order and controlling internal disturbances and insurgencies across the nation. Singh said this as he laid the foundation stone of Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences (CAPFIMS) in New Delhi. The Institute will not only have a multi-speciality hospital but also a medical college, two separate institutes of nursing and paramedical, a residential campus for students and doctors, an air ambulance unit and a 24x7 mobile hospital unit for the troops of central forces. Singh also said that the paramilitary forces deployed in some of the most difficult places have been successful in preventing trans-border crimes.

New Delhi, Feb 26 (ANI): Clarifying on his ‘impotent remark’ on BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Wednesday said that no other word expressed his feelings better and that Modi should accept what he did in 2002. He further said that if Modi does not understand these words then he can send him a dictionary. Earlier, Khurshid described Modi as "impotent", a remark that invited a sharp condemnation from the BJP.

Uttarakhand Minister Harak Singh Rawat booked for molestation, Politicos react

New Delhi/ Dehradun, Feb 26 (ANI): Delhi Police has booked senior leader of Congress unit in Uttarakhand, Harak Singh Rawat for allegedly molesting a 30-year-old woman in Delhi last year. The woman had on Monday submitted a written complaint at the Safdarjung Enclave Police Station in Delhi, alleging that Rawat had molested her at his residence in September last year. Speaking on the same, Congress Spokesperson Shobha Oza said that an investigation should take place. Meanwhile, leader of BJP unit in Uttarakhand, Ajay Bhatt said that Rawat must resign until he is proved innocent.

Land grabbing case filed against Union Minister Jitendra Singh

Jaipur, Feb 26 (ANI): Union Minister if state for defence Jitendra Singh has been accused of illegally getting a public land transferred in his name at a village in Alwar district. ACB DG Manoj Bhatt said that the complaint was from an RTI activist and that a few misinterpretation of facts resulted in court's judgement in favor of Singh previously.
