Presidents Bihar programme not organized by JD (U): Sharad Yadav

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): JD (U) Chief Sharad Yadav rejected the allegations of the BJP that the Bihar government headed by Nitish Kumar had engineered the President Pranab Mukherjee’s schedule to ensure that it clashes with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's Patna rally on October 27. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Yadav said that it was not JD (U)’s programme, it was the President's programme and Bihar government has not organized it.

'R' virus has infected Indian economy's hardware and Indian governance's

Sangrur, Oct 10 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari on Thursday attempted to clarify his 'R' virus diagnosis of the ailing Indian economy, saying it has infected the hardware of the Indian economy and software of Indian governance. Tewari further said the Indian economy is back on track. Tewari, who was speaking yesterday at the Mail Today Education Conclave 2013, said it is not the 'J- virus' syndrome - C.P. Joshi, Sriprakash Jaiswal, Jayanthi Natarajan and Jairam Ramesh - that has hobbled the India growth story. Tewari said the infection is entirely different: the 'R-virus', meaning former Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai.

President Mukherjee paves way for Narendra Modis rally in Bihar

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee agreed to change the dates of his visit to Patna as it was to clash with a rally by the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi after BJP leaders Shahnawaz Hussain and Rajiv Pratap Rudy visited him for a courtesy call. Hussain confirmed that the President will return back to Delhi on the 26th itself and has canceled his plan to stay for the night. He further said that this was done so that the President doesn’t face any inconvenience due to this rally. Hussain also said that this will be an opportunity for the people of Bihar to witness the President on one day and the future Prime Minister on the other.

Manish Tewari pulls up Punjab CM for complaining to PM

Sangrur, Oct 10 (ANI): With an upset Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal complaining to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for not being invited to Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's event, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari on Thursday said he is surprised at the former's angst, and added that people who possibly have a right to complain are the MPs and the ministers of Punjab who are treated as complete outsiders by the state government. Tewari also used the occasion to highlight the economic condition of Punjab, presently ruled by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance government. Badal had shot off an angry letter to the Prime Minister, saying that he had not been invited to the event where a major cancer hospital is to be inaugurated in Punjab and to be attended by Rahul Gandhi. The Chief Minister has in his letter said that not inviting Punjab's Akali Dal Government to the event was a violation of the federal system.

Delhi HC tells BAI to allow Jwala Gutta to play tournaments

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): The Delhi high court on Thursday asked the Badminton Association of India (BAI) to allow shuttler Jwala Gutta to participate in all tournaments till the disciplinary committee passes its final order. However, despite the intervention by HC, Jwala may still not be able to take part in the Denmark Open as her name has already been withdrawn from the tournament. A BAI committee had recommended a life-ban on the feisty veteran for allegedly trying to stop her Delhi Smashers teammates from playing a match against Banga Beats in the recent Indian Badminton League.

The TRS has also called for President’s rule in the state. TRS also urged Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan to dismiss Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister from his post. TRS floor leader in the Legislative Assembly E Rajender alleged that Reddy is biased against Telangana and was trying to stall the formation of the separate state. The TRS leaders claimed that Reddy's handling of the strike and agitation by pro-united Andhra employees in support of united Andhra goes on to prove his alleged bias.

Muzaffarnagar riots: Allahabad HC notice to Azam Khan

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): The Allahabad High Court has issued a notice to senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan for allegedly pressing for the release of seven members from the Muslim community named in the murder of two Jats, which triggered the communal backlash in Mazaffarnagar last month claiming at least 48 lives. The court asked Azam Khan to file his counter affidavit within ten days from the receipt of notice. According to reports, the Allahabad High Court also stayed the suspension of an SHO of a police station in Muzaffarnagar where these seven accused were held by the police. The court noted that the allegations leveled against Khan were "serious" and "the chain of incidents show that the matter requires consideration to see the circumstances and to find out whether the same was "in accordance with law" and not "vitiated".

Punjab CM not invited to PGI event: Incident against federalism, Gandhi family insure, says SAD

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): In response to the insult infested on Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal by not sending him a formal invitation for a PGI event in Sangrur district, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Naresh Gujral said that the incident is totally against the federal structure of the country and it shows that Gandhi family is totally insecure with upcoming 2014 General Elections in mind. Badal also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, complaining about him not being invited for the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a cancer hospital in Sangrur district. Gujral further said that this is total arrogance and nothing else.

We are planning to file anticipatory bail: Narayan Sai's legal adviser

Surat, Oct 10(ANI): Legal advisor to self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu's son Narayan Sai, Gautam Desai said that they are planning to file anticipatory bail, in the light of the fresh sexual assault allegations levelled against him. Kumar also denied that Narayan Sai went 'missing' after he was named as an accused in the sexual assault case. The Surat Police on Monday issued a lookout notice against Narayan Sai. According to the FIR, Asaram raped the elder sister at Ahmedabad ashram and his son raped the younger one in Surat between 2002-04.

Armed rebels kidnap Libyan Prime Minister

Libya, Oct 10 (ANI): Armed rebels have kidnapped Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan from a hotel in Tripoli on Thursday, sources confirmed. Abu Dhabi-based Sky News Arabia quoted Libyan security sources as saying that Zeidan was seized from a hotel where he was staying in the Libyan capital and taken to an unknown destination. Dubai-based al-Arabiya carried a similar report. On Tuesday, Zeidan called on the West to help stop militancy in Libya.

IMF cuts India's growth forecast to 3.8%, BJP hits government

New Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): As India suffered the steepest cut in the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) revised growth forecasts for the year, BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Thursday stated that the issue is very serious. He also called Finance Minister P Chidambaram an expert in bringing down growth rates. IMF, in its flagship World Economic Outlook report said that India will grow only 3.8% in the 2013-14 financial year against 5.6% projected in its July forecast, a cut of 1.8 percentage points.
