NCW condemns alleged gang rape of Muzaffarnagar riot victim

Jaipur, Nov 04 (ANI): National Commission for Women chairperson Mamta Sharma on Monday condemned the alleged gang-rape of a 20-year-old riot victim who was staying at a relief camp for people affected by the communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar district. Talking to mediapersons in Jaipur, she said that it is very shameful incident and the state government should take strict action against the culprits.

Omar urges Pakistan to respect ceasefire along the border

Jammu and Kashmir, Nov 4 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday demanded Pakistan to respect ceasefire along the border while he stressed on the dialogue between the nuclear-armed neighbours over the truce violations and infiltration. Speaking to media after inaugurating the Civil Secretariat Office in the state's winter capital Jammu, Abdullah said dialogue is the only option to resolve Kashmir issue. During the conference, Abdullah also urged the separatist forces to negotiate for talks.

Militant attack in Assam: Death toll increases to seven

Guwahati, Nov 04 (ANI): Death toll in the attack by suspected Garo National Liberation Army insurgents on a group of people in Assam’s Goalpara district has risen to seven. Talking to mediapersons in Guwahati, A P Raut, ADG (Law & Order), Assam Police said that six persons were gunned down on the spot, while 10 others were seriously injured with one of them succumbing to his wounds on the way to hospital. Meanwhile, security measures have been intensified in the district and the near by areas following the incident.
