Kharsia, Nov 16 (ANI): Addressing a rally in Kharsia constituency in Chhattisgarh, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said lauded former PCC Chief Nand Kumar Patel’s work in the state and expressed grief over the 25th May incident which killed Patel. Gandhi said that Patel never asked to be a Chief Minister, he was a person with the heart of a ‘Sarpanch’ and not of a political party leader. He said that Congress gave many schemes and introduced bills for the Chhattisgarh people, but BJP stripped off all these from the citizens. Finally, Gandhi said that he wants 500 such Nand Kumar Patel from between the crowds who will throw the BJP out and that will ultimately lead to the development of the state. Nov 16, 2013

Belgaum, Nov 16 (ANI): At least 22 people were killed early on Saturday when a mini-truck in which they were travelling toppled on a highway near Belgaum. The victims include nine women and five children. The mishap occurred when the mini-truck overturned after its driver lost control and hit a roadside kerb at a junction on the state highway. The victims were going to Saundatti, a border town in the northwest region from Surpur in Karnataka's northeast Yadgir District, which is about 540 kilometers from Bangalore. Police have registered a case against the driver and the vehicle's owner under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rash and negligent driving resulting in deaths. Nov 16, 2013

Colombo, Nov 16 (ANI): Addressing a news conference in Colombo on Saturday, British Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the decision of European Commission on Spain-Gibraltar border issue, which comes in favour of Spain and rules out UK’s complaints. Earlier, Britain had said that it is confident that Spain was breaking EU (European Union) law by imposing "politically-motivated" checks at its border with Gibraltar, after Madrid imposed strict controls at the border following tiff with the latter over an artificial reef created by it in disputed waters. The European Commission too found that Spain had broken no EU rules by stepping up checks on the border crossing into Gibraltar.
