Thousands run in 28th International marathon in Pune

Pune, Dec 01 (ANI): The 28th International Marathon on Sunday witnessed a massive participation of around 25,000 runners, with Ethiopian Belachu Adly Abaneh taking away the top prize. The 42-kilometer marathon began from Alka Talkies square in Pune. The marathon also saw the participation of runners from 50 countries, mostly from the African continent. With a time of two hours and 17 minutes, Abaneh crossed the finished line and thanked the almighty for the win.

India spreads message of prevention is better than cure on World AIDS Day

Amritsar/ Guwahati/ Puri, Dec 01 (ANI): People, including women and schoolchildren, did their bit to spread awareness on pandemic to mark World AIDS Day on Sunday. Hospitals, schools and artists across India organised rallies, walks and even created sand art to spread the message that prevention is better than cure. Medical Director of Fortis Hospital in Amritsar Dr. H.P. Singh spoke about how the disease can be fully prevented. Meanwhile, even schoolchildren in Amritsar took the forefront and held a skating rally. Principal of Millennium School, Mukesh Shilet emphasised on the importance of such awareness campaigns to demonstrate international solidarity against the pandemic. International sand artist, Sudarshan Pattnaik also spread the message through his art on the beach in Puri.

Mother chains son for four years in West Bengal

South Dinajpur, Dec 01 (ANI): A mother had to chain his specially abled son for the last four years at a village in West Bengal to save the neighbours from his deadly attacks. Aroti Singh, mother of a specially abled, Tapash Singh, said that he used to thrash villagers without any reason. Parents couldn't afford better treatment for him because of monetary problem.

People toast their glasses at first Wine Festival in Nagpur

Nagpur, Dec 01 (ANI): Organisers held the first Wine Festival in orange city Nagpur highlighting health benefits of the low alcoholic beverage. The two-day-long festival was organised by the 'Wine Lovers Club' and eight Indian brands promoted their drinks during the event. Wine festival was enjoyed by a large number of people smelling, shaking and tasting wine and watching bartenders juggling wine bottles. An organiser at the event, Sunil Mankikr, said that their main aim was to tell people that wine and liquor are two different beverages and drinking wine was a healthy option.

International community expresses concern over Bangladesh political crisis

Dhaka, Dec 01 (ANI): There is no sign of any change in the political deadlock between the two warring political parties in Bangladesh even as the 71-hour long nation-wide strike by Khaleda Zia-led BNP and allies paralyzed business, education and health facilities across the country. Shinde calls for protection of fishermen
