Telangana Bill to be tabled in RS, politicos react

New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): As the Telangana bill is to be tabled in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday after passing through the lower house of the Parliament, politicos react differently and remained skeptic about the bill. TDP leader CM Ramesh expressed anguish on the way the bill was passed in Lok Sabha. Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao remained hopeful about passing of the bill and urged the political parties to support the same. Meanwhile, Congress MP L Rajagopal, who had recently distanced himself from active politics, said that whatever is the decision, peace should be maintained.

Resurfacing of Masood Azhar may create troubles for India: Defence Expert

New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): After Maulana Masood Azhar, the Pakistani Islamic hardliner blamed for an attack on India's Parliament resurfaced, Defence Expert Bharat Verma said that this may create troubles for India, especially because of the vote bank politics going on in the country with approaching general elections. Verma said that two trends in Pakistan, that is, Taliban to take over Pakistan and secondly, resurfacing of Azhar and other such groups under ISI patronage. He said that after these targets are achieved, these outfits will target India as they consider it as a soft target.

Gaya calls for development works for ending Maoism

Gaya, Feb 19 (ANI): Eminent Indians from Bihar blamed lack of development as the prime reason behind the problem of Maoism, and urged the rebels to come back to mainstream. A member of youth wing of JD (U) in Gaya district of Bihar said that although Maoist rebels are working for development, their methods are wrong. Other people in Gaya district are of the view that the state government needs to formulate policies to flush out rebels and develop the state. According to a prominent journalist from the region, Shyam Bhandari, lack of provision of basic facilities is also a major reason behind the problem.

Pakistan's Punjab Governor vouches for better relations with India

mritsar, Feb 19 (ANI): The governor of Pakistan's Punjab, Mohammad Sarwar, who is on a visit to India's Punjab, made a move to strengthen bilateral ties during his tour, while mentioning that Muslims are most affected due to terrorism. Sarwar visited the holiest shrine of Sikhs, the Golden Temple, in Amritsar. While talking to mediapersons, he said it is high time for India and Pakistan to stop fighting and they must work together for the welfare of both the nations. While evading a direct answer to the security of minorities in Pakistan and about two Sikhs abducted there, Sarwar said the Muslims are the most affected due to terrorism.

Mauritius President promotes Ayurveda during his India visit

Kochi, Feb 19 (ANI): Addressing a conference in Kerela, the President of Mauritius, Rajkeswur Purryag, strongly advocated the use of Indian traditional alternative medicine, Ayurveda, to cope with today's lifestyle. Purryag said that Ayurveda is not only curative but also preventive. Purryag is in India to attend the Global Ayurveda Festival scheduled to be held at Kochi. The five- day event will be inaugurated on Thursday. Mauritius and India share a strong bond as more than 60 percent of Mauritus population is of Indian origin.

Maharashtra: Police recovered cache of arms and ammunitions after killing Maoists

Gadchiroli, Feb 19 (ANI): Police recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions in a joint operation on Tuesday (February 18), which killed seven hardcore Maoists in the Kotasurya jungles in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. Acting on a tip-off by sources, police launched a joint operation and killed the Maoists in an encounter, a little after midnight in the area that lies on the red corridor that is worst affected by Maoist violence. Kadam said the massive operation would prove to be a major setback for the Maoists.

Bahrain king seeks to boost ties with India during his first visit

New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): The King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, arrived in New Delhi for three-day official visit to India. The King will seek to bolster long-standing ties with India and open up new horizons of cooperation in various sectors. He was received at the Delhi airport by India's Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed. During his first visit to the country, the King of Bahrain will meet Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a number of other senior officials. A number of agreements and memoranda of understanding will be signed during the visit and the two nations would also hold talks on regional and global development and issues of mutual concern.

Young gymnasts from Manipur participate in National Gymnastic Championship at Agra

Agra, Feb 19 (ANI): A group of 19 students from Manipur were in Agra recently to take part in the 59th National School Gymnastics Championship in both the boys and girls categories. Over 1000 athletes from all over the country participated in the 5-day-long championship held at the Eklavya stadium. The young boys and girls from Manipur put up an impressive performance in the Under-14 category.
