Kiren Rijiju visits AIIMS trauma centre, says killing of Manipuri youth worrisome

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju on Monday visited the AIIMS trauma centre and later described the killing of a Manipuri youth as serious and disturbing. He however said that the police have been quite swift in the case. A youth, Shaloni from northeast was beaten to death by a group of unidentified men in New Delhi, an incident which again raised concerns over the security of people of Northeast living in the national capital. Gilgit, July 21: June 22, 2013 – the brutal killing of ten foreign climbers at a base camp of Nanga Parbat by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)'s Junud-e-Hafsa faction is still fresh in everyone's memory. The incident in Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan raised an alarm over the growing Taliban control in the region. The people of Gilgit Baltistan are stunned by rising incidents of violence perpetrated by the Taliban. Earlier, armed extremists also massacred Shia bus passengers in Chilas and Kohistan to create sectarian strife in Gilgit Baltistan. Gilgit Baltistan is predominantly a Shia majority region. However, sectarianism was cultivated by Pakistan in the late 1980s as a negative force to change the demographic reality of Gilgit Baltistan. Guwahati, July 21 (ANI): Encephalitis syndrome threat looms large over in Assam, while experts have sounded alert due to significant rise in number of cases reported that have been tested positive. The deadly disease is gradually taking a toll in Guwahati city since the month of June and has resulted in death of four people so far. The deceased includes two adults and two children who were undergoing treatment in the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. Principal of Guwahati Medical College Hospital, Ramen Talukdar said that the patients suffering from the Japanese Encephalitis have been kept under strict observation in the hospital. The devotees on Monday gathered in large numbers to offer milk, curd, ghee, honey and holy water to Lord Shiva in wee hours of morning. Long queues of people waiting with assortment of religious offerings like joss sticks, red vermilion and flowers were seen outside the temples. The saffron-clad devotees of Lord Shiva known as Kanwaria take their foot journey to the Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand to fetch holy waters of Ganges River.
