Moradabad, Aug 19 (ANI): People of Hridyapur village in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh were moved to safer places on Tuesday as river Ramganga flowed above the danger mark. Water in the river went up due to heavy rains in the region. A resident, Shyam Sundar, said they had no alternative as the water had reached the villages. Meanwhile, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Moradabad, Shailendra Kumar, said release of floodwater from Uttarakhand also resulted into overflowing of the river. The administration, however, is making all efforts to stop the water from entering into the nearby villages. Shutdown in Telangana to undertake survey for welfare schemes

Hyderabad, Aug 19 (ANI): The state government in Telangana called for a shutdown as it began conducting a survey of households on Tuesday to enlist poor for welfare schemes. The state government, in a day-long survey, would go door-to-door and ask details of around 8.4 million households. Almost two million volunteers would collect information. Meanwhile, streets in capital city of Hyderabad wore a deserted look and schools, shops, banks and petrol pumps also remained closed. According to Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhara Rao, the survey would help the newly formed government understand its social composition, corruption, cut wastage and make better welfare schemes, especially for the poor. New Delhi, Aug 19 (ANI): Following India's 3-1 Test series loss to England, the BCCI cracked the whip on Tuesday by sidelining team coach Duncan Fletcher and asking the bowling and fielding coaches to go on leave. It asked former Test cricketer and now commentator Ravi Shastri to assume charge of the team as director for the five match ODI series. The five-match ODI series against England will get underway in Bristol from August 25. The BCCI has relieved bowling coach Joe Dawes and fielding coach Trevor Penney off their duties for the one-day series and appointed Sanjay Bangar, former Indian all-rounder, and former India fast bowler Bharat Arun as assistant coaches of the team.
