Encounter breaks out between Security forces and militants in Pulwama of JandK

Pulwama, Sep 02 (ANI): An encounter broke out between Indian security force and militants in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The security force had launched a massive operation in the area to nab three militants reportedly hiding in a village in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Monday night. The militants hiding in the village area opened fire at soldiers, leading to gunbattle. Militants have been frequently attacking security bases in Kashmir since the 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in a region over which India and Pakistan fought two of their three wars.

Pak crisis: PM Nawaz Sharif to address joint session of Parliament today

Islamabad, Sept 2 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is due to address joint session of Parliament on Tuesday in which the ongoing political crisis and the violent protests will be discussed. Pakistan is preparing to launch a selective crackdown against anti-government protesters trying to bring down the government of Nawaz Sharif, the defence minister said, warning demonstrators against storming government buildings. Dashing chances of a peace deal between the government and protest leaders Imran Khan and Tahir ul-Qadri, anti-government protesters stormed the state television building in the heart of the heavily guarded capital earlier on Monday. Protesters have also tried to march on Sharif's residence.

RSS worker killed in Kerala's Kannur, state wide bandh cripples normal life

Nagpur/Kochi, Sept 02 (ANI): A local functionary of the RSS was hacked to death and another one suffered serious injuries in an attack allegedly by CP I (M) workers, near Kathirur in Kerala. The BJP and the RSS have called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district on Tuesday in protest against the murder. Meanwhile, the day-long hartal disrupted normal life across the state. Initial reports said buses, taxis and autorickshaws kept off the roads and shops remained closed all over the state.
