Finnish Handset maker Nokia has re-introduced the smartphone exchange campaign which offers close to ₹10,000 on high-end Lumia handsets to cash in on the Diwali season.
In August, the company's buy-back campaign had included only mid-range phones - Lumia 520 and Lumia 620. This time, 'Nokia Lumia Smart Upgrade Offer' has added two more handsets - Lumia 625 and Lumia 925, in a bid to attract more buyers.
With discounts, Nokia is offering its flagship metal-clad Lumia 925 for as low as ₹28,629. Its biggest smartphone, Lumia 625, can now be purchased for ₹14,919. The price of budget phone Lumia 520 has dropped from ₹11,289 to ₹7,289 and Lumia 620's price has gone down from ₹15,999 to ₹9,999.
It is to be noted that the retail prices of all Lumia phones in the buy-back scheme are slightly exaggerated compared to online retailers and brick-and-mortar stores which are selling these Nokia handsets for three to two thousand rupees less. Prospective buyers can contact the nearest smartphone retailers to enquire more about the offer.
Nokia has claimed the smartphone dealers will solely decide the discount amount based on the physical condition of the buyer's old phone. The company also insists that the consumer must be the absolute owner and should produce the invoice of the old handset purchase along with valid photo ID copy. Apple is the first smartphone maker to kick-start the buy-back scheme in India early this year. The company claimed that iPhone sales in the subcontinent surged more than 400 percent in the first quarter of 2013, shipping close to 200,000 units between April and June.
Samsung, BlackBerry, Sony and Nokia also jumped in the bandwagon. A few days ago, BlackBerry slashed the prices of its flagship touch screen smartphone, Z10, from ₹43,490 to ₹29,999 as a limited offer.
With just a month away from the Diwali festival to begin, many more smartphone makers are expected to follow suit.
