Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini Snapshots and Specifications Surface Online, Flaunts Perforated Shell Case

Snapshots of the long-rumored Galaxy S5 Mini have surfaced online, revealing that the compact phone will keep the same design language of its elder sibling.

An anonymous tipster leaked the alleged photos and specifications of Galaxy S5 Mini to the Samsung community website SamMobile. In the pictures, a small Samsung phone is shown. flaunting a removable shell case with a perforated surface, similar to the dotted texture seen on the rear side of the new flagship device Galaxy S5.

But the images do not help in ascertaining if the device will boast a water-resistant body, like previously reported.

Specifications wise, Galaxy S5 Mini is a watered down version of the original model, and is expected fall in the mid-range smartphone segment, like its predecessor Galaxy S4 Mini.

The device is expected to feature a 4.5-inch HD (probably super AMOLED) screen, 1.4GHz Samsung's in-house built Exynos 3 series quad-core processor, Mali-400 MP4 graphics engine, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card), an 8.0-megapixel main camera and a 2.1megapixel snapper on the front.

Besides Galaxy S5 Mini, Samsung is also speculated to launch a premium metal-clad variant in Galaxy S5 Prime. It is said to boast a 5.2-inch 2K (2560x1440p) display and ship with the yet-to-be announced Android update v4.4.3 KitKat.

Other expected specifications include 3GB RAM, 32GB storage space, a 16.0-megapixel primary camera (with OIS, ISOCELL) and a 2.0-megapixel front camera. The phone is expected to come with two CPU variants - one with new Octa-core processor (Exynos 5430) with 2.1GHz quad-core Cortex A15 CPU & 1.5GHz quad-core Cortex A7 CPU backed by600MHz Mali T6XXX graphics engine, and another variant with Snapdragon 805 series quad-core chipset with Adreno 420 GPU.

According to reports, Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to make its debut later this month for 900,000 Won ($875/₹52,100).

So far, Samsung has officially launched two variants of Galaxy S5 - rugged shock-proof model Active (exclusively for AT &T in USA) and the camera-specific device Galaxy K Zoom. Now, it's just a matter of days before the company formally announces the Galaxy S5 Mini. Its predecessor Galaxy S4 Mini was unveiled around this time last year.
