After months of speculations, smartphone leader, Samsung today (18 June) finally pulled the wraps-off the top-end Galaxy S5 A-LTE variant at Seoul, South Korea.
"With the introduction of the world's first Broadband LTE-A smartphone, Samsung continues to redefine its leadership in global mobile market," said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.
"The Galaxy S5 Broadband LTE-A provides users with stronger and faster connectivity united with our notable flagship experience to further demonstrate our commitment to meeting the needs of our consumers on a global scale," he added.
Galaxy S5 A-LTE sports a super AMOLED WQHD (2560x1440p) display with no increment in the display foot-print (5.1-inch). The pixel density of the screen shoots up to a staggering 577 ppi (pixels per inch). The new Samsung ships with a super-fast 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 series CPU, Adreno 420 graphics engine, 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage with option of expansion up to 128GB.
One striking feature of Galaxy S5 A-LTE is that the smartphone supports download speed of 225Mbps (50Mbps upload), three times the speed seen in conventional smartphone available in the market. The company claims that users can download a 10MB file in less than 0.4 seconds and stream high-resolution online video without any interruptions (provided user has a big monthly data-plan).
The new phone also comes with value-added features such as finger-print scanner, heart rate sensor, IP67 water-and-dust repellant certifications, ultra power saving mode, Download Booster, S Health 3.0, Private Mode, Kids Mode, which are seen inside the full HD flagship sibling Galaxy S5, which was unveiled in February early this year.
According to SamMobile, Galaxy S5 A-LTE will go on sale in South Korea this week (19 June) for 940,500 Won (around $919/₹55,300) via network carrier SK Telecom .
