Search engine giant Google today officially announced the availability of the Samsung Chromebook in India.
The Samsung Chromebook has been made available in select stores of Croma and Reliance Digital stores across major Indian metros - Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune for ₹26,990. The device can also be purchased at online stores Flipkart and Cromaretail.com.
The Google OS-powered Chromebook runs on the 1.7GHz Samsung Exynos 5250 dual-core processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB SSD flash storage. This sleek notebook weighs just over a kilogram and sports 11.6-inch HD (1366x768p) LED screen with anti-reflective protection.
On the downside, Chromebook boast neither an optical drive nor a large storage, and always needs to be connected to the internet to make use of its full potential, unlike ubiquitous Windows/Linux powered laptops in the market.
To compensate the short comings, Google is offering 100GB free Google Drive storage (for two years only) and has partnered with network carriers Airtel and Tikona to provide a range of exclusive 3G and 4G data plans to Chromebook buyers. [For more details, Click Here]
