AAP, BJP workers clash at Tughlakabad, five injured

New Delhi, Jan 04 (ANI): Five people were injured after members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clashed in Tughlakabad area following an aggressive debate in a TV news channel. Workers of both the parties pushed each other, pelted stones and abused each other using derogatory remarks. A car was set ablaze following the feud giving an ugly turn to the incident. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Meenakshi Lekhi said that the clash was a result of AAP's frustration. Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh said that it is in BJP's nature to spread violence. Police had immediately cordoned off the area and rushed the injured persons to the hospital. Jan 4, 2015

Somdev Devvarman to face Taiwan's Yen - Hsun Lu in Chennai Open first round

Chennai, Jan 04 (ANI): Tennis player Somdev Devvarman is set to compete against Taiwan's Yen-Hsun Lu in the first round of singles matches in the upcoming ATP Aircel Chennai Open tournament. Devvarman said that Yen would be a tough competitor. Yen became the first Taiwanese player to break into the ATP top 100 in 2004. Other big names in the tournament include Stan Warwinka, Feliciano Lopez and Leander Paes. Director of Aircel Chennai Open 2015, Tom Annear, said that the competition was a balance of veterans and newcomers. The Chennai Open is part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour 250 series. The 2015 edition will be the ATP's 20th. Jaipur, Jan 04 (ANI): Two cases of swine flu were registered in a hospital in Jaipur. The administration of Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur came into action where special wards have been opened and a special team of doctors have been deputed to treat swine flu cases. Additional Superintendent of the hospital, Ajit Singh, said that the two cases were registered within a week. Swine flu is caused by the H1N1 virus. But, the Mobile Medical Units under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) are reaching out to such remote villages. They organize free medical camps for the needy. Hundreds of people of different age groups queued up at the venue to avail a variety of facilities including general medical examination, ECG, Vision test and ear, Nose and throat check up. Free medicines were also given out to the people. In Tripura also, the security forces are taking a step forward to provide health facilities in remote areas. Maoist blast in Jharkhand injures two security personnel

Raipur, Jan 03 (ANI): An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast triggered by Maoists in Chhattisgarh injured two constables of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Saturday. The blast took place at 8 am when a CoBRA (Compact Battalion for Resolute Action) contingent unit was conducting regular operations in Chintagufa area of Sukma district. Karachi, Jan 03 (ANI): As many as fifty Hindu couples tied nuptial knot at a mass wedding ceremony in Pakistan's commercial capital Karachi. Donned in traditional wedding garments, the couples arrived for their big day as several hundred Hindu families gathered to attend the wedding ceremony held at the YMCA Ground in the city. The mass ceremony was organized by a non-governmental organisation, the Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC), for the couples who could not afford their marriage expenses. They tied the nuptial knot with the assistance of the community. Groom, Anil Kumar from Karachi, said he chose to get married in a mass wedding because his family was poor. Bride Usha Bai said her poor parents had to marry off three of her sisters earlier and they had been unable to afford her wedding expenses.
