An Argentinian man narrowly escaped being hurt after having to fling himself out of the way of a glass ceiling that collapsed in a building in the city of Resistencia. 3,2,1: Successful rocket launch to take supplies to the International Space Station

An unmanned Antares rocket has been launched, almost exactly two years after a previous model exploded during lift-off, to take cargo to the International Space Station. The rocket is carrying food,equipment and experiments and is expected to reach the ISS on 23 October. Satellite footage from the Japanese Himawari 8 weather satellite shows Typhoon Sarika and Haima moving across the South China Sea and Philippine Sea on 18 October. Typhoon Sarika has killed two people after making landfall in the Philippines and is now hitting the southern Chinese island province of Hainan. A pet store in Houston Texas, was robbed on 14 October by four masked men in a pickup truck. According to the owners of the pet shop, the thieves took four English bulldogs worth between $3,500-5,000 (£2,857-4,081) each, as well as two French bulldogs worth about $3,500 a puppy. Zimbabwe and Malawi have started using South African drones to combat poaching. As part of the Air Shepherd program, Drone Solutions is providing drones to national parks that use live infrared footage to track poachers and help guide ground teams. Elephants and rhinos are hunted for their ivory and horns and can have their tusks hacked off while they are still alive or are simply killed for them. China launches longest manned space mission

China has launched its longest manned space mission sending two astronauts into orbit to spend a month aboard a space laboratory. The mission is part of a broader plan to have a permanent manned space station in service around 2022.The Shenzhou 11 blasted off on a Long March rocket at 7.30am (11.30pm GMT) on 16 October. The astronauts will dock with the Tiangong 2 space laboratory, which was sent into space last month. Chinas Jade Rabbit moon rover landed on the moon in late 2013 to great national fanfare, but soon suffered severe technical difficulties. The rover and the Change 3 probe that carried it there were the first soft landing on the moon since 1976. Both the US and the Soviet Union had accomplished the feat earlier. Shenzhou 11, will also carry three experiments designed by Hong Kong middle school students selected in a science competition, including one that will take silk worms into space. Oct 17, 2016
