UPSC aspirants continue their protest demanding scrapping of CSAT exam

New Delhi/Allahabad, Aug 07 (ANI): Few civil services aspirants, who were demanding scrapping of the CSAT examination on Thursday, were stopped by police as they tried to crawl to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence. IandB Minister Prakash Javadekar had earlier accused the former UPA government for introducing the controversial format and added that Modi-led government would address the woes of students. In the wake of protests, the government announced that marks for questions in English comprehension of the examination should not be counted for merit. Tonk, Aug 07 (ANI): At least 18 people were rescued from a truck stuck in the middle of Banas River in Tonk district of Rajasthan on Thursday. A truck carrying twenty people got stuck in the river, when it was transporting sand mined from the river bed, following a sudden rise in the water level in the wake of incessant rain in the last few days. New Delhi, August 07 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 76.26 points down to stand at 25,589.01. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 22.80 points down to stand at 7,649.25. MCX and RAMCOCEM were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.73% and 4.05% along with HPCL and Indian Oil Corporation with an increase of 3.41% and 3.16% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Bhushan Steel and Bharti Infratel with a decrease of 19.99% and 7.07% along with Jubilant Food Works Ltd and UPL with a decrease of 4.81% and 4.72% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is down 9.90 points at 15,763.33 while the banking sector is up 0.20 points at 17,180.05 and the reality sector is down 6.78 points at 1,912.54.
