MET Department forecasts light rain in J and K, says no need to panic

New Delhi, Sep 14 (ANI): MET Department Scientist Charan Singh, on Sunday, said that light and moderate rains may be expected in parts of Srinagar and Jammu respectively. He also said that the weather is cloudy as effected from Pakistan's weather condition but there is no need to panic as the flood situation will not be worsened by rains. Faizabad/ Bhopal/ New Delhi, Sep 14 (ANI): A number of evacuees returned safely back home and reunite with their families and loved ones while Sikh temples in Delhi send packed food items prepared in the community kitchen to victims of flood-ravaged Kashmir. The pilgrims who returned gave credit to the Indian army and Modi government for their safe rescue. The pilgrims were then airlifted from helipad at Governor's house to the airport in helicopters, from where they were flown to their destinations. Narcotics officials seize heroin worth over 0.6 billion in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 14 (ANI): New Delhi's Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized a large cache of fine quality heroin worth over Rupees 0.6 billion and arrested an Afghan national along with two Indians for allegedly smuggling the drugs. The Afghan national along with two Indians have been arrested for allegedly smuggling in 31 kilograms of fine quality heroin concealed in raisin boxes which was to be sold in a famous dry fruits market in Delhi. Officials said a tip-off led sleuths of the Delhi zone of the NCB to a cold storage in Kundli in Haryana's Sonepat district. Officials said the raisins consignment, imported from Afghanistan, was destined to be delivered in the famous 'Khari Baoli' dry fruits market in Chandni Chowk area of New Delhi and the high quality heroin, sourced from the same country, was being sent under cover. 16 killed, 17 injured in bus accident in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand, Sep 13 (ANI): Sixteen people died and 17 others were injured after a bus fell into a gorge in Tehri district of Uttarakhand on Saturday. The bus was ferrying around 33 persons when it fell into a 300 feet deep gorge near Juyalgarh area on National Highway 58. After falling into the gorge, more than half of the bus submerged into a tributary which joins Alaknanda River. The bus was going from Rishikesh to Srinagar in Uttarakhand. The accident took place when the bus was trying to overtake another vehicle. Expressing deep shock at the loss of lives in the accident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat announced a compensation of rupees 1,00,000 each to the families of the deceased and rupees 50,000 each for the injured.
