Mumbai, Sep 22 (ANI): After NCP core committee meet ended on Monday, party leader Praful Patel said that that there will be a last meeting tomorrow in efforts to save alliance between the NCP and Congress. Patel said that Congress’ proposal of 124 seats is totally not acceptable as the party had demanded equal number of seats. Patel also said that unlike the accusations, there are no separate agenda of the party and its just a desire to grow as a party. He also said that the party is trying to save the alliance and Tuesday’s meeting will be last such attempt in this regard. Sep 22, 2014

Arterial road damaged during Kashmir rainfall reopens after reconstruction

Jammu & Kashmir, Sep 22 (ANI): The arterial Mughal Road in Kashmir running between the towns of Buffliaz and Shopian, which was rendered inaccessible following landslides caused by the recent heavy rainfall, has been reconstructed and thrown open to traffic. The road has been witnessing heavy traffic ever since it was opened. Residents of Buffliaz, heaved a sigh of relief after the Mughal Road, which is crucial for connectivity to Kashmir, opened up. Vehicles carrying relief material for Kashmir flood victims and other necessary items have been passing through this road which offers the shortest route to Kashmir. Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Commanding Officer, Pankaj Kapur, told reporters that the connectivity to Poonch has been opened from both sides, including Mughal Road and Rajouri on a war footing. New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): A woman lawyer allegedly consumed poison in the Supreme Court premises on Monday. The woman claimed that she had been gang raped in November 2013 and no action was taken so far in the matter. Commenting on the incident Lawyer Kamini Jaiswal said it is a bad reflection of the system and she is glad that the Court has taken cognizance of the situation. Lohardaga, Sep 22 (ANI): Hundreds of tribal women in a village of Lohardaga district of Jharkhand launched an anti liquor campaign on Monday to make their village hooch free. The women went on a rampage to destroy material used to produce country-made liquor in the villages. A tribal anti liquor activist, Malti Devi said that the campaign has been launched to make the state addiction free. Earlier, in a similar movement in 1991, women from the villages of Andhra Pradesh addressed the growing alcohol dependency among men and the consequent domestic abuse and squandered household income by staging protests aimed at forcing out local liquor traders. New Delhi, Sept 22 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 116.32 points up to stand at 27,206.74. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 24.85 points up to stand at 8,146.30. GITANJALI and JAIPRAKASH ASSOCIATES LTD. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.96% and 5.65% along with TATAMOTORS and ONGC with an increase of 3.80% and 3.32% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include SUZLON and INFRATEL with a decrease of 9.80% and 5.70% along with BHUSHAN STEEL LTD. and NATIONALUM with a decrease of 4.97% and 4.41% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 176.10 points at 18,269.83 while the banking sector is up 52.99 points at 18,532.20 and the reality sector is down 14.24 points at 1,759.93. Incessant showers dampen Navratri spirit, worry idol makers in Tripura

Agartala, Sep 22 (ANI): With the festivities of the ‘Navratri’ or nine glorious nights of Hindu goddess, Durga round the corner, incessant rainfall dampened the spirit of idol makers who worry it might adversely affect their sales in Tripura. Artisans in state capital, Agartala, remain apprehensive as idol-making has been delayed due to the rains and efforts have to be geared up to complete the work on time. An artisan, Khokan Rudra Paul, said they have to employ more workers to complete the backlog that has occurred because of the rains. Usually, by this time, the artisans complete the mud work of the idols and shift the idols for colouring and last finishing, but this year because of the heavy rains, the idols are still wet and work has halted. The artisans use polythenes to cover the idols from the rain water. If the shower continues for a couple of days more, they would have to hire blow lanterns and gas flames to dry the idols.
