New Delhi, Dec 3 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 1.30 points down to stand at 28,442.71. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 12.95 points up to stand at 8,537.65. ESSAR OIL and SUN TV were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 20.00% and 13.73% along with FSL and SUZLON with an increase of 11.16% and 9.95% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include CEAT LTD and SAIL with a decrease of 5.62% and 5.06% along with KAILASH and RASOYA PROTEINS LTD. with a decrease of 4.98% and 4.36% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 256.64 points at 19,338.75 while the banking sector is up 91.30 points at 21,339.82 and the reality sector is up 22.02 points at 1,696.05. TMC protests against hike in fuel excise duty

New Delhi, Dec 3 (ANI): Leaders of Trinamool Congress (TMC) party, on Wednesday (December 03), staged a protest outside parliament against a hike in excise duty of petrol and diesel. India on Tuesday (December 02) raised excise duties on petrol by 2.25 rupees per litre and on diesel by one rupee per litre with immediate effect, the finance ministry said in a statement to parliament. The increases, which follow similar hikes in mid-November, seek to take advantage of a slump in world oil prices to shore up government revenues without stoking inflation. A source familiar with the matter said the latest measures were expected to raise an additional 40 billion rupees in the remainder of the fiscal year to the end of March 2015. Meanwhile, TMC staged protest against the hike, saying the Indian consumers could not avail of advantage of global slump in fuel prices. Dec 3, 2014

2002 hit-and-run case: Salman's blood alcohol content high, confirms expert

Mumbai, Dec 03 (ANI): Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who is facing trial for killing a pavement dweller and injuring four others in a 2002 hit and run case, has tested positive for alcohol content in his blood at the time of accident. A forensic expert told a sessions court in Mumbai on Wednesday that content of alcohol in Salman's blood was higher than permissible limit. The alcohol content in Salman's blood was 62mg, which is more than double the permissible limit of 30mg. Salman is on trial in the sessions court for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
