Political parties draw speculations on possible alliance in JandK

New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): Political leaders on Friday speculate on possible alliance in Jammu and Kashmir and also said that alliance should not be between parties with exactly opposing ideologies. Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs and BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that the party wants a stable government in the state and are open for alliance with any party. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that the prime minister who talked about doing away with PDP is talking to the same party only to grap power in the state. RJD Spokesperson Manoj Jha said that JandK should be handled with care and that BJP should avoid politicizing the 'sensitive state'. New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): Political leaders on Friday said that distribution of enhanced compensation cheques by Home Minister Rajnath Singh to the victims of 1984 riots is taking place in the wake of upcoming polls in Delhi. The leaders said that BJP's steps are now being taken in the wake of Delhi assembly elections as the same is very crucial for the party. Meanwhile, BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said that this was a poll promise made by the BJP and the distribution is happening to fulfill that promise. New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): Political leaders condemned the attacks in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam even as the death toll rises to more than 80 on Friday. Tamil Nadu remembers 2004 Tsunami victims on 10th anniversary

Chennai, Dec 26 (ANI): To mark the tenth anniversary of 2004 Tsunami disaster, people in Tamil Nadu on Friday offered prayers for the victims. It was on this day in the year 2004 that the Tsunami devastated Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu claiming more than 6,600 lives. Fishermen in many coastal districts of the state will not be venturing out into the sea today to pay homage to the victims of tsunami. In Nagapattinam, people led by Fisheries Minister KA Jayapal will pay homage to those who lost their lives in the tsunami. In Kanniyakumari, people will pay homage by placing wreaths in tsunami memorial. Meanwhile, people arrived at a church to pay respect to the lost souls. The priest prayed for peace. People also congregated at a grave yard to offer flowers to the dead. Rehabilitation works by central and state governments along with several NGOs had helped to give counseling to the survivors. In Siron mass grave, where thousands were killed in the tsunami were buried, Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla and his wife Mufidah led a delegation of a dozen officials who paid their respects to those who died. The 10-meter killer wave, triggered by a 9.1 magnitude earthquake off western Indonesia, wiped out most of the coastal areas in the region, leaving at least 226,000 people dead. Indonesia was the worst hit area with at least 168,000 people dead in Aceh province alone, the closest point to the epicenter. Dec 26, 2014

Police bust Rave party in Gurgaon

Gurgaon, Dec 26 (ANI): Police in Gurgaon, in a joint operation with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a rave party at a farmhouse. Nearly 44 youngsters, including four girls, were rounded up. The party was taking place in a farmhouse near Gurgaon and the police raided it at 3.30 am (2200 GMT). Police Commissioner of Gurgaon, Navdeep Singh Virk said they recovered LSD, crystal methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine from the farmhouse. Most of the detained people are from Delhi.
