On 16 December, Xiaomi got a partial reprieve over Ericsson's patent violation case and before people could come to terms with the news, another smartphone war has erupted in India. This time, Micromax is blocking another Chinese firm, OnePlus, from selling its flagship One smartphone in India.
Just days ahead of the launch of flagship CyanogenMod powered YU series smartphone, home-bred phone maker Micromax reportedly filed an injunction against OnePlus in the Delhi high court.
Micromax asked the Delhi high court to suspend the sale of OnePlus One phones in India as it violates the exclusive Micromax-Cyanogen agreement.
The Indian company has signed an ambient services and application distributions agreement with American software company Cyanogen, reports Live Mint.
With this, Micromax now owns the exclusive rights to incorporate CyanogenMod OS in its devices sold in India. After hearing Micromax's plea, the court passed an interim order banning sale of OnePlus One with Cyanogen logo in India with immediate effect.

We believe this ruling might not affect OnePlus in a big way, as the company can still sell the phone via international trade channels. Most tech-savvy Indians already bought the flagship phone – One, much before it began selling on Amazon India website.

Just before OnePlus One went on sale in India on 2 December, Cyanogen had confirmed that the device sold via Amazon India would not receive any more OS updates.
Later, OnePlus assured Indian fans that the company had already formed an in-house software team to bring the new community version of Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update to the OnePlus One phones in India later this month.
