The internationally acclaimed consumer electronics fair MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2015 is about to go live in a few hours time.
Smartphone industry titans Samsung, HTC, LG, Gionee, Sony, Microsoft and many others have confirmed their attendance for the biggest mobile convention in Barcelona, to exhibit their latest gadgets to the world.
Here is the list of top smartphones which are expected to be showcased at MWC 2015:
Samsung Galaxy S6 (and also S6 Edge):
Though Samsung is hosting a private event to unveil its 2015 flagship smartphone Galaxy S6 series smartphones on 1 March, the company has confirmed to showcase the devices at MWC 2015.

Samsung Galaxy S6 internally known as Project Zero will boast of 5.1-inch QHD (aka 2K: 2560x1440p) screen with a staggering pixel density of 550 plus ppi (pixels per inch).
Under the hood, it is believed to come packed with 14nm based 64-bit class Exynos 7 Octa-core CPU backed by 4GB RAM, 20.7mp camera and a 5mp front camera.
Beside the normal Galaxy S6 model, Samsung is expected to announce a limited edition S6 Edge variant.
It has been learnt that Galaxy S6 Edge will have dual-edge display; where-in phone's screen will be curved on both right and left side.
Extra space on the both edges are said to be utilised to house illuminated icons (shortcuts) for easy access to user favourite apps.

HTC One (M9):
Like Samsung, HTC will host a separate event to launch One M9, but will also exhibit the new marquee at MWC 2015 (2-5 March).

As per numerous reports, HTC One M9 is said sport a 5.0-inch full HD screen and run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS powered by the 2.0GHz Octa-core CPU (believed to be the 64-bit class Snapdragon 810 chipset), 3GB RAM, a 32GB inbuilt memory, 20mp camera on the rear side and a 4.0 ultra-pixel based snapper on the front.

Beside the HTC One M9, the Taiwanese company is also speculated to unveil a phablet codenamed HIMA Ace Plus and a smart fitness-band aka Petra.
The new HTC phablet is expected to boast a mammoth 5.5-inch QHD (2,560x1,440p) with a staggering pixel density of 550 ppi. Rest of the key specifications like SoC (System on Chip), RAM storage capacity and camera specifications is said to similar to its smaller sibling.
On the other hand, Smart fitness-band Petra is expected to sport a plastic based 1.8-inch curved POLED display with 36x160p resolutions. Value-added features real-time weather updates, music-control access, calendar sync option, SMS/Call notifications and act as camera shutter button provided it is synced with companion smartphone.
LG Leon, Magna, Spirit and Joy:
Unlike it rivals, LG has reportedly postponed the launch of flagship smartphone LG G4 to few more months, but it has confirmed to showcase newly unveiled mid-range 4G-LTE smartphones - Leon, Magna, Spirit and Joy.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua:
Japanese smartphone maker Sony too has backed out from announcing flagship smartphone Xperia Z4. It is part of the company's initiative to launch only marquee phone a year. Previously (2013 and 2014), the company used to announced two flagship phones, but this strategy did not work well for Sony.
However, this does not mean Sony nothing to offer in this event, the company (via Twitter) has released teaser poster of MWC 2015 with splashes of water in the back ground.
The tag reads, "Get ready to make a splash... All will be revealed 02.03.2015. #Xperia #SonyMWC." It may finally announce the rumoured water-proof Xperia M4 Aqua and also the Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Xperia M4 Aqua is said to flaunt a 5.2-inch HD (1280x720p) screen and run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS powered by 64-bit class Snapdragon 615 SoC (System on Chip), 16GB inbuilt memory, 13mp camera, a 5mp snapper on the front and boast of IP65/IP68 water-and-dust-resistant certifications.
Whereas the Xperia Z4 Tablet will sport a 10.0-inch 2K (2,560x1,440p) resolutions display. Other key specifications are yet to be ascertained.
Huawei Ascend P8:
Huawei Ascend P8 is said to feature 5.2-inch full HD (1920x1080p) screen and run on the company's inhouse built new generation Kirin 930 series SoC (System on Chip). Other specifications are a bit scarce right now. We just have to wait a few more hours to finally know what Huawei has in store for us.
Gionee Elife S7:
Going by the new teaser video of Gionee - "Built to impress, engineered to perfection. #RevealTheUnexpected at#MWC2015", we believe upcoming Elife S7 will be a major upgrade over its ultra-slim predecessor Elife S5.5.
Microsoft Lumia 1330 & Lumia 640:
Microsoft's Lumia 1330 is said to sport a 5.7-inch HD screen, 0.3-inch smaller than its predecessor 1320, which flaunted mammoth 6.0-inch screen. Looking on the bright-side, the compact screen will provide sharper display thanks to increase of pixel density.
Other specifications include Windows Phone 8.1 OS with GDR2 (General Distribution Release 2) update, 32GB inbuilt memory capacity, Snapdragon 400 series quad-core SoC (System on Chip), Adreno 305 graphics engine and 1GB RAM.
One key improvement in the Lumia 1330 is that it will house a feature-rich 14mp PureView camera and 5mp snapper on the front. Lumia 1320 had very mediocre camera specifications – 5mp rear-side camera and VGA 0.3mp front-camera.

On the other hand, Lumia 640 is mid-range smartphone. It expected to feature 5.0-inch HD screen and ship Snapdragon 400 series quad-core SoC (System on Chip), Adreno 305 graphics engine, 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt memory (expandable).
On photography front, it is expected to feature 8.7mp camera (most probably boast PureView sensor technology) and 0.9mp snapper on the front for video chatting via Skype.

Besides Lumia 1330 and 640, Microsoft is also rumoured to announce three more devices all under entry-level and mid-range category at the upcoming MWC 2015 event.
