Micromax's official e-commerce affiliate Amazon India today opened the registration window for YU Yureka flash sale scheduled for next week.
Prospective consumers can now go to Amazon India and register themselves. [HERE]. The company has not disclosed when the registration window will be closed, but if history is taken as any guide, Micromax may wait for another four-five days and if the response is overwhelming, it might close the registration before 28 January.
[Note: Consumers who have registered for previous flash sales but couldn't get the phone, need not re-register. They can directly buy the phone on 29 January]
The company had done the same during the first flash sale registration and closed the window one day prior to 25 December end date after the registration surpassed 3 lakh applications.
Yesterday (22 January), despite assurances from both Micromax and Amazon India, the flash sale was marred by technical glitches. For one, all 15,000 units got sold out in record 4 seconds and some users were asked pay ₹12,499, ₹3500 more than the MRP ₹8,999.
Rubbing salt on the wound, some miscreants were seen selling the Yureka phones for exorbitant prices ranging between ₹10,000 and ₹16,000 at online classified websites like OLX, Quikr and others.
One improvement we saw on 22 January flash sale was that the company had increased its YU Yureka's inventory capacity to 15,000, 5000 more than last week's units.
But this wasn't enough to satiate the registered users (rumored to be more than 2 lakh) who were disappointed for not getting their hands on the phone despite sitting in front of the computer hours prior to the sale (it went live at 2:00 pm, 22 January).
Many fans took to twitter to pan the company of not doing enough to check the racketeering of Yureka at classified websites and have asked Micromax to increase the inventory capacity for the next flash sale.
In a related development, rival Xiaomi, as a part of Indian Republic day celebration has announced Redmi Note 4G open sale (24-26 January) on Flipkart without registration.
