Bangalore has always been a good market for Vijay starrers and his latest film "Kaththi" is yet another proof. It was released worldwide on Wednesday, 22 October, and has got an earth-shattering opening at the box office.
On the release day, "Kaththi" had above 200 shows in the city. It is said to be the biggest opening for a Vijay film in the Garden City after "Thuppakki" and "Jilla", which approximately had above 125 shows on the opening day.
"Tamil films have a good market here. Not only because of the Tamil population here, but even the local people watch Kollywood films of big stars. Not to forget, Vijay is a popular star among Kannadigas," said a local trade tracker.

On talking about the opening of "Kaththi", he claims, "The film has got a great opening here. The turn-out for the film was excellent on the first day. The occupancy, on an average, had 90% on the first day. The multiplexes and the distributors have made good business on the first day."
Traders predict that "Kaththi" has approximately earned around ₹1 crore on the first day at the Bangalore box office and total of ₹ 1.5 crore in Karnataka. And the predictions say the film has possibly done better business in Bangalore than in Chennai. However, the distributors are yet to confirm the official figures.
On the other end, Vishal's "Poojai" had about 90 shows in Bangalore on the first day. The response was good for the film. However, the turn-out for the film is expected to increase in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the Vijay starrer has got a great opening worldwide. The film has approximately collected ₹ 20 crores (gross) worldwide and in Chennai alone it has made ₹ 12.5 (nett).
"Kaththi" has been praised for the good message-oriented storyline, action sequences, background score and the brilliant screen presence of the Ilayathalpathy. The film is an action thriller directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Lyca Productions.
