There are a handful of TV actresses who have tried their hands at films, but only a few have managed to eliminate the cut-throat competition in their road to stardom.
Jennifer Winget, who is set to make her Bollywood debut alongside director Kunal Kohli in "Phir Se", might just be one of them. At least, her fans, who voted her as the hottest TV actress on big screen, would like to think so.
In an IBTimes India poll, Jennifer finished first with a whopping 35.2% of the votes. Karishma Tanna came a close second with 26 %, meanwhile Anita Hassanandani, Yami Gautam, Shweta Tiwari, and Surveen Chawla received 15%, 14.41%, 4.95%, and 4.3% votes respectively.
Getting into the movie business isn't easy. It took years and truckload of hardwork for the stars to land a film, but such wasn't the case with the "Dill Mill Gayye" star.
"I don't know why Kunal Kohli thought of me for Phir Se. But he did. I got the role without any effort. I just got a call and in the second meeting he asked me to do a scene. That was it," IANS quoted her as saying at the first look launch of her first film.
However, while some would like to believe it's a transition phase for Jennifer, she revealed her future plans saying, there might be a serial in the pipeline. "I've virtually grown up in the television industry. I love the medium, and to say I'm moving on, would be wrong. Basically, I love to act. The medium is not important. It's a feature film now. It might again be a serial after that."
Shot in London, the film is also Kunal's first and the actress says they are both playing their age in it.
