Like the hot studs of television, some of the adored female protagonists too have shifted to the big screen. Karishma Tanna, Jennifer Winget, Yami Gautam, Anita Hassanandani, Surveen Chawla, and Shweta Tiwari are some of the big names who have ventured into films.
Karishma Tanna
This gorgeous lady began her journey with Balaji Telefilms' "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" as Indira Virani and went on to sign a string of other serials. Although the actress made her Bollywood debut with "Dosti: Friends Forever", her role in "Grand Masti" got her more exposure in the Hindi film industry.
She will next be seen in "Tina and Lolo" alongside Sunny Leone.
Jennifer Winget
This pretty face had become a household name with her stint in medical-drama "Dill Mill Gayye" opposite ex-husband Karan Singh Grover. Interestingly, her TV career began in 2000 with popular show "Shaka Laka Boom Boom". Jennifer went on to do a bunch of supporting roles in TRP-churners "Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka", "Kkusum", "Kasautii Zindagii Kay" and "Kahin To Hoga" among others. Although she has made a bunch of cameos while young, her official debut with her in the lead is Kunal Kohli's "Phir Se".
Yami Gautam
Unlike her contemporaries, it took only half a decade for this young star to move to the big screen. She began her TV career with "Chand Ke Paar Chalo" and "Raajkumar Aaryyan" in 2008, and later signed "Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam" (2009). Before delivering a stellar performance in Shoojit Sircar's "Vicky Donor" alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami did a Kannada, Punjabi and a Telugu film.
Anita Hassanandani
She has been around for a considerable amount of time. "Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii" and "Kavyanjali" are two of the yesteryear popular series for which she played the lead. And now she essays the role of vicious Shagun Arora of "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein" with effortless ease. She has done a bunch of Ekta Kapoor films such as "Kuchh Toh Hai" (2003) and "Ragini MMS 2" (2014).
Surveen Chawla
The "Hate Story 2" actress made her television debut with Ekta Kapoor's "Kahiin Toh Hoga". The show ended its run in 2007 after which she signed her first Kannada film "Paramesha Panwala". She did a couple of cameos in mainstream hindi films but her big break was Vishal Pandya's erotic thriller "Hate Story 2" alongside Jay Bhanushali.
Shweta Tiwari
She came up on every TV watcher's radar with her spell at Balaji Telefilms' "Kasautii Zindagii Kay" alongside Cezanne Khan. Since then, she has done a handful of daily soaps but none brought the fame her first small screen role gifted her with. Her big screen debut "Madhoshi" was more of a blink and miss role, which didn't bring much to her plate. However, reports suggest Shweta and husband Abhinav Kohli have signed their first film.
