Pawan Kalyan-Venkatesh starrer "Gopala Gopala" has opened to good response at the box office. (Update: Read "Gopala Gopala" First Day Collections at Box Office)
"Gopala Gopala" has received positive reviews from the critics and the audience alike. It has kicked off on a grand start in the AP/Nizam and US markets. The film has reportedly minted around $300K from US premier shows on Friday.
"Good Reports coming in from USA Premier's. Looks like a $300K around Friday! Nice start. #GopalaGopala," tweeted Andhraboxoffice.
Although the film has taken good openings in the US, it has failed to beat the record set by Mahesh Babu's "Aagadu," which has minted $527,000 (Rentrak only) from premiere shows. The film has also apparently failed to beat "Attarintiki Daaredi" premiere collections, which amount to $345K (Rentrak only).
In the AP/Nizam areas, "Gopala Gopala" has taken a good start thanks to the impressive advance booking and the presence of big stars like Pawan Kalyan and Venkatesh. The film is expected to break into the top 10 highest grossing Day 1 shares at the AP/Nizam box office.
However, it needs to be seen if the Pawan-Venky starrer will be able to set new first day records by surpassing "Attarintiki Daaredi" collections. Details about the film's first-day collections are expected to be out soon.
The 2013-blockbuster flick minted ₹10.75 crore on the opening day which is an all-time record for a Telugu film. Whether "Gopala Gopala" surpasses the collections and achieves the rare feat of setting day one record is something one needs to wait and watch.
"Gopala Gopala" has also taken thunderous openings in Chennai and its suburbs. Telugu films have a good market in the city and the Pawan-Venky starrer are expected to perform strong business on the opening day.
"#GopalaGopala thundering opening 2day in Chennai city & Chengalpet (42 out of 52 screens in TN) with early M.shows," tweeted entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai.
With no big competition around, "Gopala Gopala" is set for a big opening weekend. Considering that the film has received positive feedback, it is likely to continue its good run for at least a few more days until the release of Vikram-starrer "I" on 14 January. The long Sankranti holidays is likely to help boost "Gopala Gopala" collections, although it might face strong competition from "I."
