Just a few days ago, search engine giant Google did a little goof-up by accidently revealing the price of the company's upcoming smartphone Nexus 5 on the official Google Play store.
We are not sure if Google's faux paus was a genuine accident or an intentional gimmick but it has certainly gained interest among fans. With the rumoured launch of Nexus 5 set for 30 October, many would be enthusiastic to know about the features of the LG-Google smartphone.
Here are the latest reports regarding Nexus 5's features and price details:
Display and Design:
According to the alleged Nexus 5 service manual leaked a few weeks ago, the upcoming smartphone is expected to sport a 4.95-inch full HD (1920x1080p) display. Word on the street is that the smartphone's developers LG has reportedly used the company's flagship model G2's design while building Nexus 5. If leaked pictures are to be believed, Nexus 5 do look similar to G2 in shape but it is unlikely to feature any power key or volume controllers on its back-cover, as seen on the LG phone.
Processor and RAM:
If we go by the leaked Nexus 5 benchmarks scores, one can certainly expected the upcoming Nexus 4 successor to boast high-end hardware specifications. Nexus 5 is expected to pack the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 series quad-core CPU, Adreno 330 graphics engine and 2GB RAM.
Mobile Operating system:
Everyone knows that all Nexus-brand devices are affiliated to Google, so one can also expect the upcoming smartphone to run the newly unveiled Android v4.4 Kit Kat OS out-of-the-box.
The new operating system is expected to come with refreshing interface with visual tweaks, improved security, new notification widgets and is also said to improve performance by using less RAM as well as cutting down on unnecessary battery usage by apps, as well as during file transfer using Bluetooth.
Camera:
According to Kit Kat v4.4 log files leaked by tech blog Myce.Com, Nexus 5 reportedly sports an 8.0-megapixel camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing secondary camera.
Rumours are rife that the Nexus 5's main camera would boast MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical System) technology, which is said to empower the new phone to focus an object (still/video) seven times faster than any high-end smartphones in the industry.
Price:
Google's faux paus on Friday (18 October) had revealed that the Nexus 5 (16GB) is expected to cost $349 (around ₹21,395). There is no official word regarding the 32GB model price but rumour has it that it may be priced more $400.
Launch date:
Speculation had claimed that the new Google smartphone would be unveiled on 15 October but we are well past that date now with no news of Nexus 5. If the Nexus 4 2012 (29 October, to be precise) launch is considered to be any indicator, we can still hope that Google might hold an event soon, probably by the end of this month.
According to AndroidSAS, Nexus 5 is said to be unveiled along with new Kit Kat OS on 30 October.
