American technology giant, Apple Inc has reportedly postponed the launch date for iPhone 6 series smartphones in India.
Citing official Apple smartphone retailers, The Indian Xpress has claimed that the new iPhone 6 and its Plus variant are not likely to hit store shelves until Mid-November.
The reason behind the delay is believed to be due to the overwhelming response from North America, Europe, South-East Asia and Australian markets.
The company's online store crashed, just minutes before the 12 September pre-order window opened. It was re-opened after a few hours of delay and received a staggering four million orders on the first day itself, breaking iPhone 5's 2011 pre-order record.
The report comes just days after Apple changed iPhone 6 availability details twice in just a few hours. After announcing 26 September as the much hyped smartphone's release date for India on 9 September, it changed the date to 17 October within few hours. But again, the company this week (on 11 September) pulled down the release date details on its official home page, leaving many wondering whether there will be a delay in launching the smartphone in India.
Apple India has also retracted the official price-cut on iPhone 5S and 5C in India owing to the delay in iPhone 6 launch. The company's official reseller, Redington in an email reply to BGR India has confirmed that price-cuts have been delayed till October end.
However, if the new report from The Indian Express is to be believed, it might be pushed further by another few weeks. The media house has also revealed that the new iPhone's starting price is expected to be between ₹55,000 and ₹60,000.
