Taiwanese electronics major Acer has finally launched its much-awaited 7-inch Iconia B1-A71 tablet in India for a little less than ₹8000.
Acer had unveiled the Iconia B1-A71 tablet at the recently concluded International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2013 in Las Vegas.
"The tablet PC market in India has been one of the fastest growing segments and has potential to grow even further in 2013. As a global leader, we are committed to introducing devices that follow high standards of quality and reliability. The Iconia B1 is a product that is geared to exceed consumer expectation while guaranteeing a wholesome experience.", said S. Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India during the launch, reported NDTV.
Iconia B1-A71 is one of the very few budget tablets that run on the latest Android v4.1 OS Jelly Bean. The device also boasts a powerful Mediatek dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz speed.

The company claimed that Iconia B1 is ideal for busy individuals seeking a convenient mobile companion. The tablet's 7-inch size is similar to a standard book page, making the device suitable for e-reading, web browsing, playing games as well as watching videos.
As of now there are more than 135 MNCs and Indian tablet makers fighting for major share in the Indian tablet market.
Acer being a global brand has come up with an affordable tablet in the sub-₹8000 price range to compete with Indian companies which offer tablets at cheap prices.
Other MNCs are also trying to replicate the same strategy in the sub-continent. Recently, leading PC maker Lenovo launched a similar 7-inch IdeaTab tablet for ₹13, 495.
