"Lingaa" minted $404,566 from 118 screens during premiere shows (Thursday) in the US.

The film is set to beat overall collections of Vijay's "Kaththi", which raked in over $600K at the US box office. "Kaththi" is the sixth highest grossing Tamil film of all time.
"Lingaa" has emerged as the seventh highest all time Tamil grosser of 2014 in just a single day. "#Lingaa thalaivar makes into 7th highest all time Tamil grosser of USA with just 1 day gross. Will enter top 5 today," tweeted ATMUS.
The film is likely to continue its fantastic run in the opening weekend and rake in huge collections at the US box office.

Tamil Nadu
"Lingaa" has taken humongous openings in Tamil Nadu where the film witnessed 100 percent occupancy in several theatres. The film, which released in over 600 screens in Tamil Nadu, has minted ₹16.75 crore on the opening day, according to cinemalead.The Rajinikanth starrer has reportedly surpassed the opening day collections of "Kaththi," which stand at approximately ₹12.5 crore.
