Chinese telecommunication equipment maker ZTE launched the company's flagship Axon 7 at the Park Hyatt in Beijing on Friday.
The new phone comes with slim metallic body developed by ZTE in collaboration with Designworks, a subsidiary of popular carmaker BMC Group.
Besides the exceptional design language, the company has incorporated top-notch stereo audio system in the Axon 7. It boasts two dedicated audio chips AK4961 and AK4490 from AKM and Dolby Atmos surround sound technology.
The new Axon 7 comes in two variants – one a standard with 4GB RAM/64GB and another premium with 6GB RAM/128GB storage configurations. There is another differentiating factor between the two. The high-end model boasts advanced Force Touch display. It's an Android phone version of 3D Touch technology seen in Apple iPhone 6S series.
For those unaware, 3D Touch feature enables the phone's display to intuitively sense the difference in finger's pressure to enable new gestures -- Peek and Pop. The users can dip in and out of content without losing their place. They just need to press the screen lightly to get a Peek at a photo, email, web page or other content, and if pressed a little deeper, they can Pop into the content itself.
The rest of the features such as display size, resolution, processor, battery capacity and camera hardware remain the same in both the Axon 7 models.
"We've designed the smartphone (Axon 7) especially for music and audio lovers. We've consulted music professors, and set up a dedicated sound design lab to achieve the best sound possible. We're confident that the AXON 7 will become the smartphone of choice for business as well as ordinary people that appreciate exceptional sound quality anywhere, anytime with our AXON 7," Adam Zeng, CEO of ZTE Mobile Devices, said in a statement.
Other than the Axon 7, ZTE also unveiled the company's first virtual head gear dubbed as the ZTE VR, which supports Daydream, Google's platform for high performance mobile VR.
The new ZTE Axon models – 4GB RAM/ 32GB and 64GB RAM/128GB— is expected to be available initially in China for around $450 (€402/Rs.20,152) and $640(€572/Rs.42,883), respectively and later get released in the United States, Europe, and other regions.
There is no official word on the pricing of the ZTE VR.
