Zhang Yixing, one of the nine members of the popular South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO, will celebrate his 24th birthday on Wednesday, 7 October, with the release of his semi-autobiography titled "Independent 24".
According to a Zhang Yixing Studio Weibo update, the autobiography will feature 24 important moments in the singer's life. The book will be released in two versions including a limited edition version and the original version.
Born in Changsha, Hunan province, China, Zhang Yixing is popularly known by his stage name, Lay.
The K-pop star was very keen about dancing at a very young age and won third prize in a dancing competition organised by Star Academy in 2005. Zhang Yixing was discovered by entertainment agency SM Entertainment through a global audition in 2008. After several years of training, he was introduced as the main dancer of the group.
Apart from being an active member of EXO, Lay has been involved in various reality shows, including "Yue Ce Yue Kai Xin" and "Na Ke Bu Yi Yang".
The limited edition of the book which was available for pre-booking in China on 17 September saw 68,537 copies sold within 24 minutes. On an average, the semi-autobiography of the EXO member recorded a sale of 50 copies per second, reportedly the highest number of online book sales in China.
