Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero suffered a major dip in its box office collection on Monday, but the movie witnessed some growth in business on Tuesday.
Zero has had a below expected earning at the Indian box office over the weekend. After making a business of Rs 20.14 crore at the domestic market on opening day, the film surprisingly had suffered a downfall on Saturday.
Zero had collected Rs 18.22 crore on Saturday, and had ended the weekend with a collection of Rs 20.71 crore on Sunday. As expected, the movie suffered a major fall at the commercial circuits on Monday as it collected Rs 9.50 crore.
While Zero was earlier expected to cross Rs 100 crore mark by the end of first weekend, the movie managed to cross just Rs 50 crore. However, Aanand L Rai's directorial again witnessed a growth in collection on day 5 (Tuesday) as it was Christmas holiday.
With a screen count of around 4,300 across India, Zero collected Rs 12.75 crore at the Indian box office on Tuesday.
"#Zero witnessed growth on Day 5 [#Christmas]... Day 6 [Wed] and Day 7 [Thu] biz crucial... Fri 20.14 cr, Sat 18.22 cr, Sun 20.71 cr, Mon 9.50 cr, Tue 12.75 cr. Total: ₹ 81.32 cr. India biz," Taran Adarsh tweeted.
Made with a budget of around Rs 200 crore, Zero was one of the most anticipated movies of this year. But the film failed to put the expected impact at the box office, and is likely to witness sharp decline in business from Wednesday.
With Simmba releasing this Friday, trade experts have predicted that Zero will end its box office run with a lifetime collection of around Rs 110 crore.
Apart from Shah Rukh, Zero also featured Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. The film received negative response from most of the critics, which apparently affected the box office collection adversely.
