It looks like the dark clouds that have stormed upon Shah Rukh Khan and his recently released film Zero are not going to pass anytime soon. The movie, which has been struggling to make a mark in the first three days at the box office, has now witnessed a tremendous decline in its collections on day 4.
The Anand L Rai directorial, which also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in lead roles, had an overall 20-25 per cent occupany on Monday (day 4). The morning shows witnessed a mere 10-15 per cent occupancy, however, it gradually kept on increasing till the night shows but it still wasn't enough to make a mark.
The movie, which has already underperformed and earned Rs 59.07 crore over its opening weekend, minted Rs 9.50 crore on day 4. The collections have surely come as a major disappointment especially for SRK who has been struggling to give a stellar hit over the past couple of years.
Released across 4380 screens in India, Zero had received mixed response (mostly negative) from audience and critics alike. While the first half of Zero managed to entertain the viewers in the cinema halls, the second half made people cry a river thanks to its poor screenplay, missing sub-plots and 'zero' emotional connect. The performances by its lead actors were the only saving grace for this Zero.
Zero will now have to remain strong during weekdays which is crucial to sum up its first week collections on a good note.
The movie presents the story of Bauua Singh, a vertically challenged man essayed by Shah Rukh Khan which is set against the backdrop of Meerut. Born to a wealthy family and raised in an environment of affluence and indulgence, Bauua was never failed by Meerut or its people. But when he meets two women (Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma), his experiences with these women take him on a journey to complete his 'incompleteness' and broaden his horizons to find a purpose he never knew he had.
