Shah Rukh Khan's latest release Zero has had a decent but below expected earning on opening day at the Indian box office. Surprisingly, the collection went down on Saturday.
Considering the excellent advance booking trend, Zero was expected to create a havoc at the ticket counters. However, owing to the negative reviews, the film did not rake in the expected money on first day.
Zero has had a collection of Rs 20.14 crore at the Indian box office on Friday. While ideally a movie's earning increases on the weekends, Zero witnessed a dip in its business on day 2. The morning occupancy of the SRK starrer on Saturday was much lesser than the first day, and the evening show occupancy also remained below expectation.
Having been released on 4,380 screens across India, Zero collected Rs 18.22 crore at the Indian box office on day 2, taking its total to Rs 38.36 crore.
"#Zero slips on Day 2... Biz should've witnessed solid growth on Day 2 after an underwhelming Day 1, but is struggling at the BO... Decline on Day 2 [vis-à-vis Day 1]: 9.53%... Fri 20.14 cr, Sat 18.22 cr. Total: ₹ 38.36 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
It is a disappointment to see that Zero was expected to cross Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic market in its first three days, but the film is likely to cross only Rs 50 crore mark by the end of Sunday. However, it may have the advantage of earning big on Tuesday as it will be Christmas holiday.
Nonetheless, considering the current trend, Zero might have to struggle hard to become a hit as it has been made at a big budget of Rs 200 crore. Also, Ranveer Singh's Simmba is going to be released next Friday, which will certainly affect collection of Zero over the second week.
