Kajal Aggarwal, Regina Cassandra, Raashi Khanna, Lavanya Tripathi and a host of other glamorous Telugu actresses walked the pink carpet March 13 at the Zee Apsara Awards 2016.

Zee Telugu has already launched some popular award functions like Zee 10, Zee Kutumbam Awards, Zee Golden Awards and Santosham Awards. And now, the channel has come up with a the Zee Apsara Awards, which is meant to honour women achievers in different walks of life.

"In Indian religions, Apsaras are beautiful, supernatural female beings. They are youthful and elegant, and superb in all kinds of Arts. So keeping the greatness of Women in mind this time Zee Telugu is all set to express the gratification of honour to the Beautiful Female Stars of yester years who have enthralled Telugu Movie industry with their extraordinary performances, [sic]" reads a statement on the official website of Zee Telugu.

"This year, Zee Telugu Apsara Awards will also honor successful women from different fields of Sports, Defense, Media etc. So, get ready to meet the astonishing Apsaras on 'Zee Telugu Apsara Awards' 2016, [sic]" it adds.

The channel had announced Jan. 31 the nominees in 11 different categories. The winners were decided based on SMS votes from viewers', polls on the official website and Facebook apps. The winners of the Zee Apasara Awards 2016 were announced at a grand event held March 13 in Hyderabad. The event is expected to be aired on Zee Telugu soon.

The Zee Apasara Awards 2016 ceremony was a colourful event, with a host of Telugu actresses walking the pink carpet. True to its name, the function looked like a heavenly gathering of Apsaras. From legendary actresses like Vijaya Nirmala, Krishna Kumari, Jamuna and Jayapradha to the young-generation actresses like Nanditha Raj, Hebbah Patel and Pragya Charmee Kaur, many actresses made it to the "Pink Carpet".
