After months of delay, YU has finally released the final version of the Cyanogen 12.1 (Android 5.1.1 Lollipop) OS update to the company's first device Yureka and its advanced 'Plus' version in India.
"Gearing up for Diwali? We just got a cracker for you : ) (smiley face) . After three beta builds and final positive feedback from testers, we are officially releasing the 12.1 update for all the YUREKA and YUREKA Plus users," said Rahul Sharma, company's founder on the official forum page.
It's been more than two months since the new Cyanogen OS 12.1 was released to OnePlus One, and now it has been made available to Yureka series. YU's software affiliate Cyanogen had been testing the same software for Yureka and Yuphoria series and reportedly reached the final phase in June (read full story, HERE). But the firmware release got deferred, probably due to the emergence of bugs.
Sharma apologised for the delay in the update roll-out and promised that the budget smartphone Yuphoria will get the Cyanogen OS 12.1 update soon.
How to Install Cyanogen OS 12.1 (build number: YOG4PAS3JM) update on Yureka and Yureka Plus via OTA [Over-The-Air]:
On getting the update notifications, select the "Yes, Download" option >> then, after downloading, select >> "Install now". The phone will restart automatically and the OS will be updated to the new version.
We would like to remind out readers that the roll-out process is being carried out in phases, so it will take at least two more weeks to reach all corners of the country.
Until then, users can also check manually on the smartphone by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System update' >> 'Check Now'.
The new update is said come with enhanced Thermal control features to fix the nagging over-heating issue and also increase performance of the device.
