Micromax's subsidiary Yu Televentures is planning to unveil the company's new smartphone, dubbed the Yunicorn, later this month.
Earlier this week, Yu founder released a video teaser hinting the impending launch of the flagship phone. But, the video clip did not give any clue with regard to the device's name or the release date. Now, the company has begun sending invites to media outlets for the launch of "Yunicorn" on May 19 in New Delhi.
Yu Yunicorn: What we know so far
As of now, there is very little information on Yunicorn's features. Just a few weeks ago, Yu-branded device YU5530 was spotted on performance testing website Geekbench. Many believe this device might be the same , the company plans to unveil later this month. It is said to feature 1.81GHz MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755M) octa-core processor backed by 4GB RAM and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
As of now, there is no evidence whether the device will run stock Android or custom Cyanogen OS. But, the company founder's recent announcement of contract alteration from "exclusive" to "need-based" tie-up with the American custom software, hints the new device may come with pure Android like Yunique.
Other key specifications such as screen size, display resolution, camera and battery capacity of Yunicorn are yet to be ascertained.
