Latest reports reveal that the much-awaited Thala Ajith movie, "Yennai Arindhaal" - which will release on 5 February, has been trimmed to 2 hrs and 48 minutes inclusive of all credits and titles. The censorship board has given it a "U/A" certificate without any cuts.
The film, directed by Gautham Vasudev, is Ajith's 55th movie and is one of the most expected movies of the year. The romantic thriller will see Ajith in different looks as he will portray the role of a sensitive and sophisticated police official. The movie narrates the story of a 13-year-old boy till he reached the age of 38.
The makers of the movie had said that the plot of the film is character-driven but, has assured that the film will have all commercial elements of a Thala movie.
The expectations are so high that the people behind the project are expecting nothing but 100 per cent occupancy in the first few days. The distributors of the movie are trying to ensure that the film is promoted appropriately and as per reports, the film will have maximum release ever for a Ajith movie.
In US, "Yennai Arindhaal" will reportedly have a record release for the actor as it would be shown on 95 screens. His last biggest release in US was "Arambam" that was screened at 78 places.
With the huge releases, the "Yennai Arindhaal" makers are hoping that the box office collection of the movie will cross the first day collection of last year's hits like Vijay's "Kaththi".
"Kaththi", which hit the screens on 22 October, witnessed an extraordinary opening on the first day by minting approximately ₹12.5 crore nett.
For "Yennai Arindhaal", major markets are the US and Malaysia. In US, "Kaththi" was the first non-Rajinikanth , non-Kamal Haasan movie to cross $100k mark through premier shows. In Malaysia as well, the Vijay starrer became the biggest grosser of 2015.
"Yennai Arindhaal" also has Trisha Krishnan, Anushka Shetty, Vivek, Thalaivasal Vijay, Amit Bhargava, Rajasimman and Devi Ajith.
The music is composed by Harris Jayaraj, while the film is edited by Anthony and the cinematography is handled by Dan MacArthur. The film is produced by AM Rathnam and S Aishwarya under the banner of Sri Sai Ram Creations.
