The Islamic State (Isis) militants have released a gruesome execution video that shows the radical fighters beheading and shooting at least 15 Houthi soldiers.
The 2-minute video titled 'Eliminating the Apostates' was initially uploaded on Youtube on Thursday but was later taken down. The new Isis killing video shows the soldiers kneeling on the ground, many of them weeping, as Isis fighters ask them for their names.
The execution video, according to local media sources was filmed in Shabwa province located to the east of the capital Sanaa.
The Isis killing video does not reveal when the execution took place, however, according to the US-based SITE monitoring group, there were reports in mid-April that 14 soldiers from a rebel unit were massacred.
In the video, which was shot at night, the Isis fighters are seen beheading four Houthi rebels, while other men are shot in the head with an assault rifle.
The new Isis killing video comes just weeks after the Islamic State made its first official announcement, declaring its presence in Yemen. The radical Sunni group even released a video in which it said that the "soldiers of the Caliphate" have arrived in the country to "cut the throats" of the Shiite Houthis.
"We have come to Yemen, with men hungry for your blood to avenge the Sunnis and take back the land they have occupied," an Isis commander had said in the video.
