Ranbir Kapoor starrer "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" which opened to a grand response on Friday has broken the record of blockbuster film "Dabangg 2" in Delhi and Rajasthan circuits.
Ayan Mukherji's directorial venture raked in ₹20.16 crore on the second day at the domestic box office, taking the two day total to ₹39.61 crore.
The romantic film has finally smashed the two day record Salman Khan's action comedy film "Dabangg 2" in India by a slight margin.
"Dabangg 2" raked in ₹18 crore on Saturday, while "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" minted ₹20.165 crore. The two day total of "Dabangg 2" stands at ₹39.1 crore, while "YJHD" collection is ₹39.61 crore.
The Salman starrer was released across 3,500 screens in India, while the Ranbir film was released in over 3,000 screens. The screen count of "YJHD' is lower than "Dabangg 2", but it still earned more.
"YJHD" has also pushed behind Saif Ali Khan starrer "Race 2" by a big margin and is now the biggest earning film of 2013. The action thriller raked in ₹35.84 crore within two days of its release.
The romantic film is making record breaking collections in Mumbai, East Punjab, Delhi, and Rajasthan circuits. The collection was high in Mumbai and Delhi where it minted more than ₹6 crore and ₹4 crore, respectively.
The film which also features Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin is heading for a record breaking opening weekend.
After having a fabulous two-day collection, the film is now expected to earn around ₹56 - ₹58 crore in the first weekend. If the romantic film earns more than ₹56 crore, then it might break the record of Salman's other blockbuster film "Ek Tha Tiger".
